Old Town

There's an old town on the banks along a river
there's an old woman there who remembers all the years
and every favorite son who left his life along the river
and everyone else, they're all the same

There's an old man sitting silent by the river
reflections in the water show a solemn family
and the flags beside the tombstones show that everyone returns home
the the water moves and makes them all the same

Every moment of your life, there's a thousand roads to take
a thousand futures fall away with every choice you make
in an old town
an old town
an old town

Well he'd been there and he knew he had to get out
a haircut and a uniform, and he stayed away some years
and there is a connection between where and how you live life
but if you don't know why, it's all the same

Well I'm old now, and every moment getting older
and nothing ever changes with the moving of the years
can you help me find an answer, find the reason for my leaving
so I can do what I came here to do and return home
