Dollar Tree
I had a dream the other night, I was happy as I could be
I didn't have to work all day, nobody had a hold on me
didn't need to find no job, no need to make money
didn't have a care in the world, 'cause I had a dollar tree
dollar tree
every day I'd pick up a handful of bills and I'd head on into town
anywhere the fun was needed's where I'd lay that money down
when I was feeling lonesome , like nobody cared for me
I could but all the friends I wanted with the money from the dollar tree
dollar tree
I had all the finer things: abig house and a cadillac
any time I need more I'd just take a little walk out back
I went to all the parties, seems I had a thousand friends
because I had that dollar tree, they'd always let me in
dollar tree
autumn came and the money went and the good times were all gone
I settled in for the winter feeling cold and all alone
They all turned me down then when I needed the company
"say, what heppened to your money, friend, what happened to the dollar
tree?"
dollar tree
when I got to thinking about where I had gone wrong
my shallowness and all the changes I had undergone
I knew then that there only was one thing to set me free
I went out at night in the cold and the wind, and I chopped down the dollar
tree
